I finished this in early January. It still needs to be blocked. Hopefully that will help with the small pucker in the yoke. Otherwise, it fits well, and L loves it. It was fun to knit with a really interesting construction.
I originally bought this yarn to make Melissa Leapman's Basket Weave Pullover.
I even joined the knit along but I just couldn't get into that
pattern. Just as well. I was looking at some FOs on Ravelry and many of them stretched out. Let's hope this one doesn't.
This one was more my style. Simple, interesting, good tv knitting.
I can't believe I left a picture of my cast up for so long.
You'd think that since I've been home with a broken ankle, that I'd be blogging up a storm, but to be honest, I haven't been doing much so it would be terribly boring to blog about sitting around the house. The good news, though, is that I've been writing a lot I'm almost finished with revisions to my last chapter. I can really see the light at the end of this dissertation tunnel!
I have been knitting a bunch. I'm working on Oblique, and finished up the back earlier this week. I'm a bit worried that it will be too big for me, but we'll see how it comes out. It's been a fun knit; the lace pattern was easy to memorize, and so it's been good relaxing knitting. I'll try to get some pictures over the weekend.
I also started a Short Row Hat in some Patons SWS, (raveled here) which was coming along pretty quickly. But this pattern is one where you really have to pay attention and I haven't had that much uninterrupted, or non-TV knitting time to get it finished. I think I'm about halfway done. I just need to finish it. I haven't had too much motivation, since I haven't been going outside = not really needing a new hat. It will match my camel coat, though, so I'll get some pictures when I am finally done.
It's been a LONG while since I blogged but I've been focusing on life for a while and taking some time to slow down. Life sort of made me, when I slipped on the day after Christmas and broke my ankle. I did get a cool red cast, though.
It's tough being home all day, every day. Can't drive. I wheel myself around the house in a rolling desk chair – this can get precarious at times, but it is better than not being able to carry anything when using the crutches. You get pretty inventive when you have to.
But there is a bright side. Since I'm out of work until the beginning of February, I've been able to catch up on some lost time with the dissertation and that light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and brighter. It makes for a happy girl.
With less stress on my shoulders, I hope to get back to blogging more…
PS - I joined the ABC-Along. A more appropriate A entry before the week's out.
Found another sweater that I've added to the queue. Basic Black by Glenna C, from the recent MagKnits. Comfy, basic and fitted - which is good for me. I might even make black, which is versatile and matches most of my wardrobe. Heck, most of my wardrobe is black. But, I might check the stash and see if I have enough of anything. Don't think I do.
Don't fall off your chair - I actually knit this morning!! H was watching his run of Playhouse Disney shows and I picked up the second sleeve of L's sweater. I finished the garter stitch border and knit to the first increase. Wahoo!! I never thought I'd be so excited to knit about 7 rows on a sleeve. Well, whatever it takes, right. Maybe I'll even take some pictures today... Now, waiting on lasagna to cook and devising a plan for the week. Have a nice Sunday.
I love weddings. My friend Amanda got married last night in a beautiful ceremony at a beautiful Episcopal church in Moorestown, NJ. The reception was a the Camden County Boathouse, which was quite nice, too. I never made it outside to see the water since it was so cold, but we'll have to go back down there.
They looked so happy. I forgot to take my camera, though, so I don't have any photos to share. It was fun night, though.
When I started NaBloPoMo, I had great intentions of returning to blogging full force. The reality is, I have limited time to finish the dissertation and that is taking up all of my writing time. So, I'm still going to try to post daily, but if I don't, I'm not gonna freak out about it. And if there is knitting content, great. If not, great, too.
Speaking of knitting content – I love some of the new Knitty Surprise patterns. Particularly this one. It looks so comfy. I wish I had time to knit…. Hmmmm…
Geez- i'm stressed. and too busy to knit. that makes for boring NaBloPoMo. Oh well, that's what you get from me this month. I'm all written out on the dissertation today. i'll give a longer post tomorrow.
It finally feels like fall around here. The weather has gotten cooler. The trees were absolutely gorgeous on my way to work this morning. It makes me remember how much I love this time of year. Time to snuggle up with a good, warm sweater and settle in for long, dark nights. I've been really devoted to finishing up the dissertation lately, so it feels right to be back to school, too.
But, the late warm weather was great for spending extra time with H. He loves being outside and hanging out. And I love seeing him run and play.
