just a quick update..... lots to tell, and I hope to get a better post in later this week.
Spent the weekend with my sister in DC at Dad's house. Saturday was a fantastic day at Maryland Sheep and Wool, and then a great dinner by dad.
There's been some knitting - my jaywalker is coming along, as is the baby sweater that I'm working on. I'll try to post some pictures later this week.
But, I wanted to post my SP8 questionnaire:
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I can't say that I have a favorite yarn, but I prefer natural fibers and dislike 100% acrylic, though I've been known to use it.
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
It depends on which needles - my denises are usually found in their case, and I made a needle roll for my DPNs last fall. I have another needle roll for a set of birch straights that Kristin bought me a while back. The rest of my needles just float around, not too organized.
3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I learned to knit when I was about 11 or 12. I used to knit a project every summer, but didn't have much time to knit during the school year. This pattern continued through college, sort of. I kept knitting a bit in graduate school, mostly on some squares for a patchwork blanket for my sister. It took me about 3 years to finish it. So, I wasn't knitting a whole lot! A few years ago I picked up the needles again and haven't really stopped. Though I've been knitting for a while, I wouldn't say that I'm advanced. I guess you could say intermediate, though I don't do a lot of fancy patterns.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Yep - There's a link in the sidebar.
5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I like fresh scents - nothing really strong. And definitely not floral or fruity. I love vanilla candles, but not bath products.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Most definitely!! And I love dark chocolate.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I've been known to do some cross-stitching and I'm trying to learn to sew. I also crochet, though I prefer knitting. I just started spinning - more about that when I have time to update on MSW.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I have a wide variety of music tastes, though I don't really like rap or hiphop. Yes, I can play MP3s.
9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I have a penchant for things red and pink, though I have so much of it in my stash that I've decided that I need to branch out.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I'm married with a 6 month old son. No pets.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
Yes to all, though I haven't worn any ponchos lately.
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I've decided recently that I like smaller projects. Because I have less time to knit, big projects (like adult sweaters) are a bit overwhelming to me.
13. What are you knitting right now?
Jaywalkers with some beautiful Schaeffer yarn; a baby sweater for my son; and I should be working on my hubby's basketweave sweater, but it sits at the bottom of my bag, with very little time spent on it.
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Sure
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Circulars, and I don't have a preference for materials.
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
Yes, both
17. How did you learn to knit?
My mom taught me
18. How old is your oldest UFO?
3 years, maybe. I should just frog it.
19. What is your favorite holiday?
Halloween - it's my birthday :)
20. Is there anything that you collect?
Well, does yarn count? And I have lots of clutter in my house, though I'm trying to get rid of it. Oh - some people might say I collect pens. I have more than anyone could possible need.
21.
Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get
your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I have a subscription to Interweave Knits. You could check out my Amazon wishlist for books, though I need to update it. I'll try to do that this week, too.
22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
not that I can think of.
23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
Yes. I'll have to post my measurements later when I have a chance to measure.
24. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)
10/31
I'm so excited for SP8!!
Yipee!!
